A few months ago I had to move from Burnaby to Richmond and hired Student Movers.  They showed up on time, were professional, didn't break anything (the last movers I hired dropped an expensive lamp) and I ended up paying less than originally quoted.Very awesome moving experience and would recommend these guys to anyone!

As a planned afternoon move with hint of 1pm (they couldn't say a time as "it depended on how long the morning job took"), I became rightfully frantic as they didn't show didn't show didn't show and then after the second phone call finally appeared at 4pm. Although I had thought they were eofessions and would know, I had to ask them to park in the ample alley access driveway both from where I moved from and to-since they took up the whole road and now it began to rain. They finished around 8pm and charged me $450. As a last ditch option I wouldn't willingly use them again. I paid by credit card and even didn't get a receipt that I had asked for. And no one at any time knew what customer service was. Sad.

My bad. I should have reviewed this company before I scheduled the move. When you have a small one bedroom apartment and have moved several times, you know how long a move would take. At least I do. Evidently the movers thought they had a sucker. I'm so sorry I disappointed them. The movers showed up on time (bonus). I had the key to hold the elevator and everything in my apartment was packed. I was moving everything into a storage unit 650 metres away. That's 2 minutes driving and 8 minutes walking. This move took 3 hours.A big part of the delay was one of the movers took his ever loving sweet time. So what would have been a 1 1/2 hour move took 3 hours. Also, when I booked the move and paid a deposit, I was told I could pay by credit card or debit. It just so happens that the mover (main guy who took his time and was driving) forgot to get the machine from another driver. He said it would be best if I paid by cash. You see where I am going with this?At the end of the 3 hours, I was told they had to add another $85 to the total because it took 3 hours. I pushed back and told him it SHOULDN'T have taken 3 hours. It should have been done in 2. I believe (actually I know) he took his time, using my bathroom, slowly loading, moving boxes around without going anywhere, to extend the time. In doing so and asking for cash, he could have pocketed the extra hour.I will never use this company again and recommend others not hire them as well. One star is generous.

I would rather move myself than ever hire Student Movers again. On the day of the move, the movers did not show up at the time arranged. My partner and I phoned the two numbers given on the website repeatedly, but no one picked up, or responded to our voice mails. I also emailed and no one responded to that. The movers finally showed up an hour and a half late, which meant that our move-out inspection had to be pushed to a later time and that the next tenant moving in had to wait an extra hour and a half to move in. The least the company could've done is call us to explain. We were stressing out for that hour and a half wondering when they were going to show up or if they had forgotten. Student Movers advertises the use of free wardrobe boxes, which we requested wardrobe boxes but were not brought to the move so we ended up having to pack our clothes in garbage bags last minute.  The move took 5 hours in total, but we were charged for 6.25 hours worth of time, and when we questioned the movers, they told us they were also charging for the time it took to drive from the yard to our apartment. So apparently it takes 1.25 hours for them to drive from the yard to Mt. Pleasant, which they charge you for. Lots of moving companies automatically charge 1 hour of travel time on top of the time it takes to move,  but unlike other companies, Student Movers does not state this anywhere on their website. I realized the next day that one of my boxes had been left in the truck. I emailed and left a voice mail to let them know and ask  that they return it to me, but my box was not dropped off at my place until two and a half weeks later. And it was only returned after I emailed threatening to complain to the Better Business Bureau.

Polite, respectful, friendly, good communications, and easy to deal with. Good value and would call in the future.

On September 1st (probably the busiest moving day of the year) they moved a truckload of our stuff from a garage in Point Grey to our 8th-floor apartment in the West End. They squeezed us in, on this uber-busy day, thanks to a cancellation. We were able to observe their whole process from start to finish. First, they know what they are doing. The two-man crew rarely needed to confer with each other -- they de-constructed the "tetris jig-saw puzzle" of our tightly-packed possessions in the garage and then re-constructed it into their tightly-packed truck -- as they each understood what the other was doing. In short, they were well-choreographed and well-coordinated. We also watched as they wrapped all our fragile stuff in moving blankets and saw how they carefully placed these items in "safer spots" in the truck. Result: no breakage or damage. Second, they also were very friendly and easy to deal with. They showed up at the promised time, went about their work with dispatch (you are paying by the hour, so this is reassuring), and even allowed us to judiciously help them (on small tasks where we "amateurs" would not slow them down with our "help"). The whole job took about as long as we expected and the price was quite reasonable. Finally, "Mark" in the office was very helpful as well. We actually had one moving blanket of our own that got mixed in with theirs at the end of the move because, well, they do all look alike. We called Mark and he was able to find our blanket among the hundreds he has in stock and we worked out a convenient  time to get it back. Would we use them again? Yes. In fact we are planning to use them again when we move the rest of our stuff later this year.

What a great crew. Hired Studentmovers.ca to move me and my 2 kids from our East Van basement suite to Nanaimo. We didn't think it could be done in 1 day but were amazed that it was. Really great crew, enjoyed meeting and working with them. We missed the ferry and both the moving truck and our car were stuck in the lineup for the next ferry. One of the crew bought out his guitar and played, gave one of my kids a lesson in the basics. Highly recommended

The movers were 40 minutes late and ridiculously slow. It took them five hours to move me from one two bedroom townhouse to a two bedroom condo 20 driving minutes away. They also charged me for two hours of driving time, from North Van to Knight and E. 21st Ave and then SE Marine Drive back to North Van. They broke three framed pictures (the glass of two and the frame of a third) and scratched two desks, my bookshelf and the wooden frames of my couch and chair. My dresser now sways to and fro when bumped and part of my bed frame never made it into the new place. They also said things like, "do you want to move this in your car, it's not likely to make it in the truck". They took time out to smoke cigarettes, talk on the phone and try to drum up business with passersby. The whole thing cost a little over $750. I will NEVER recommend them. It does not feel like money well spent, especially considering I got so frustrated that I moved stuff in and out of the truck to speed things along. Terrible service.

Great service on a recent move. Everything went well. The crew was pleasant, professional and made us feel at ease. moving is stressful enough, at least the moving crew reduced the stress considerably

Just wanted to recommend Student Movers. We hired them at the end of the month to move us from a 2+den to a house in Coquitlam. Great job, great crew. Cost less than we thought it would. I'd recommend them to anyone looking to move.
